What's on your reading list?
My day job consist of supporting children with learning disabilities in a resource setting. In other words, I’m a Paraprofessional. It’s not an ideal job but it has it benefits, such as summers off. During the Summer, this year I scoured my local library, which is something I do often.
This time, I won the jackpot. I’ve always been an avid reader. My favorites were R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series and as I got older the horror classics of Stephen King. Of course, Stephen King’s sinister novel, Doctor Sleep is on my reading list, except when I strolled through the shelves for something else to add to my book collection, this petite purple book stood tall amongst the mounting of books in the NonFiction section of my public library. I discovered, Well-Read Black Girl. An anthology novel, I read stories from phenomenal women of color like me. It was astounding and exceptional. I couldn’t put it down. I learned many things about myself though that book and it lead me to My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. Each book on my list is drastically different from one another and similar in the most oddest ways. Wether I need a good scare or some affirmations my book list caters to me and where I am in life.
What does your book list detail? Does it speak to you in ways no one can relate? Or is it a fun, adventure with lovable characters? Comment below, as I could always use a good book.
